Is it still a fruit salad if there are only apples and mangoes? Fruit salad in the @lunchbots boxes today, along with sandwiches, crackers, seaweed, dry fruit, peppered, and raw veggies. (Of course no 2 boxes are the same, that would be easy!)

Do you make green smoothies? With raw leafy greens? The trick is to blend the leaves very well with a banana or other soft ingredient (like avocado or mango) before you add ice and the rest of the liquid. Sometimes my kids’ lunch boxes come home empty and sometimes a mess of soggy crumbs and grape stems. But must often there are a few uneaten items that aren’t mushy or garbage… they just didn’t get eaten. I salvage those pieces (from all the boxes) and offer them up as a snack or incorporate them into dinner: veggies can go into our salad, crackers for the after school snack, and grapes into a dish in the fridge for later. #nowaste #zerowaste #dontwastefood #saveitforlater
