Do you mix and match your salad ingredients? Grains and fruits and vegetables. Greens. Nuts and seeds. Dried fruits. And dressings.
Recently I bought some nice plums and was thinking about how we could have them fresh, but not out of hand or in a typical fruit salad.
I decided on cucumber and plum.
So, sliced similarly and laid on the plate, what next? They needed another fresh ingredient which lead to herbs. I had parsley, but mint would have worked too. Then a little olive oil drizzled and a few drops of balsamic vinegar sprinkled over top. A few seeds for some texture and a finger-sprinkling of salt.
Ta-daa! A different salad with plums.
